About Us

A community led effort, decades in the making.

The Greenbrier Valley Aquatic Center has been a long needed community resource to serve the Greenbrier Valley and beyond.  What was once a simple idea has become a first-class aquatic based facility for all to enjoy and benefit from.

Our Story

Greenbrier Valley Aquatic Center began as an architecture, engineering, and business student project at Greenbrier East High School.  The completed project was presented to the community in May 2018 and was met with the desire to make this a real world facility.  That summer, the GVAC was established, nonprofit status secured, board of directors formed, capital campaign created, and a staff member hired to lead that effort.  In the time since, more than $6.5M in funds have been donated to create a first-class facility on 5 acres of land provided by the State Fair of West Virginia.  After a  2 year long construction process, Greenbrier Valley Aquatic Center opened on April 1, 2022.
